We all have been hearing and discussing GST from past few months. GST registration is mandatory for many people. So, what is GST Registration Process-how is GST registration done? Registration of GST involves obtaining a GSTIN number. GSTIN allows you to file tax returns and pay taxes in compliance with the tax laws.

  • Avail Input Tax credit on goods and service purchased.

If you are dealing or supplying goods or services across different states, you would need a separate registration in each state you are transacting. You can use one PAN to register in different states.

Many of us don’t know GST Registration Process-how is GST registration done. In fact, GST registration is a very simple online procedure.

हम में से बहुत से जीएसटी पंजीकरण प्रक्रिया नहीं जानते-जीएसटी पंजीकरण कैसे किया जाता है। वास्तव में, जीएसटी पंजीकरण एक बहुत ही सरल ऑनलाइन प्रक्रिया है।

Step by Step GST Registration Process-how is GST registration done :

चरण बद्ध तरीके से जीएसटी पंजीकरण प्रक्रिया:

  1. To begin, access the GST website
  2. You can follow this path from the home page. Services>Registration>New Registration.

You need to give the following information here. (Note that the fields marked with red asterisk are mandatory fields)

  • Your Name
  • Address and communication details
  • Your PAN
  1. Make sure to enter the right mobile number and email address as all the OTPs will be communicated to you through this. Clicking the option “Proceed”, will send two different OTPs to your mobile and email address.
  2. On next page, you need to enter the OTP sent your mobile number and your email address.
  3. This will complete the first part of your registration and the website will generate a temporary reference number (TRN) for you. Note down this TRN for future use.
  4. Follow the same path you did the first time: Services>Registration> New registration. Here, you need to select TRN option and enter your TRN to proceed.

  5. This will generate an OTP. Enter the OTP to see your status of the registration application. This would be “Draft”. Click the edit icon.
  6. This part of registration has ten sections, with each section having multiple fields that need to be filled up. Make sure you fill all the mandatory fields. You will have 15 days to fill all the details.
  7. In Business details section:

    Provide the basic details of the business. This is very crucial information; make sure you recheck the information and entering. Click Save and continue.

  8. Now, you would notice that the business details section color is now blue and also has a tick on it indicating that the section is now complete. You can move on to any section to complete your registration.
  9. In promoters or partners section:

    Enter the personal information, identity information and residential address of the partner or promoter

  10. Now you need to upload the person’s photograph. Make sure the image is in jpeg format and less than 100 KB. In the other information section, move the slider to yes if this person is to be the authorized signatory also.
  11. The next section would be the Authorized signatory. You can add multiple authorized signatories by clicking Add new button.
  12. If you have any authorized representative you can add it to the next section.
  13. In Principal place of business:

    You need to provide the place of business details and add a document which supports this information. This file should be in PDF or JPEG format and of maximum 1 MB size. Similarly, add information of additional places of business in case you have any.

  14. In Goods and Services Section: 

    Provide information about five primary goods and services you supply.

  15. In the Bank accounts section:

    Give details of at one bank account you are using for business purposes. Once you fill out the bank details, upload a supporting document such as a canceled copy of a cheque leaf, first page of passbook or your account statement.

  16. In the next section, you can give any state-specific information required.
  17. In the Verification section:

    You need to verify that the information provided true and correct to have a legal binding.

  18. Once done, submit the application. If your firm is a Company or LLP, you need to attach a digital signature certificate before submitting.

Upon submitting the application, you will get an ARN (Acknowledgement Number). You can verify that the status of your application is now “Pending for Approval”.
